Perak Chief Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir today expressed his hope that the people of Perak cooperate in promoting the state’s tourism assets to help make the Visit Perak Year 2012, a success.
He said this initiative by the state government is meant to turn Perak into a popular destination to both local and foreign tourists.
“We need the cooperation from all relevant agencies in the state as well as from the people of Perak to actively promote our tourism assets to the world and help develop our tourism industry,” he said, adding that tourism should be contributing significantly to the economy of Perak.
“The promotional year would be the best time for us to show off our distinctive features as Perak is rich in its natural assets such as hills, mountains, forests, and scenic landscapes,” Dr Zambry said.
He was speaking during an event to launch the Visit Perak Year 2012 at SUK Esplanade in Ipoh which was also attended by State Tourism Exco Datuk Hamidah Osman.
Dr Zambry mentioned that the state government has been busy with promotional efforts which include putting up billboards, advertisements, working with media partners, and distributing brochures.
During the event, Dr Zambry also presented the official Visit Perak Year flag to the state’s media team which would be going for a Gunung Kinabalu climb on Saturday.
