Boost for Visit Perak Year

Visit Perak Year 2012 (VPY 2012) will receive a boost when the campaign flag is placed on top of Mount Kinabalu in Sabah to publicise the event.

The flag will be carried by 15 media representatives, who will trek up the 4,095m mountain on Nov 30.

Perak Media Welfare and Sports Club secretary Kamaruzaman Yusof said this was one way the state’s media members could help to promote VPY 2012.

“We hope that through this event there will be better working relationship between the media, Perak Tourism and the state government,” he said.

Kamaruzaman said this after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the club and Perak Tourism at the State Secretariat building in Ipoh recently.

Kamaruzaman represented the club while Perak Tourism chief executive officer Ahmad Fathil Abdul Ghani represented the board.

The ceremony was witnessed by state Tourism Committee chairman Datuk Hamidah Osman.

Hamidah hoped that through the reports to be filed by the media members on the hike up Mount Kinabalu, tourists would be informed about the various hiking spots in Perak.

“I hope the Perak media will give due publicity to the Saiong Kledang Forest Reserve and Bukit Larut in Taiping,” she added.

  1. I wrote a comment on the idiotic idea of the event on Mt Kinabalu for Visit Perak Year but not published. Do i sense that the matter is really idiotic and preposterous that you dare not publish.
